Women's Volleyball Outblocks Long Beach
Using a season-high 12 block kills, the state No. 21-ranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team improved to 2-0 in the South Coast Conference with a sweep over Long Beach City College, 25-20, 25-16, 25-11, Wednesday at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
PCC sophomore outside hitter Nora To'omalatai landed 10 of her match-high 18 attack kills in the opening set. Long Beach held eight leads in the game until PCC went ahead for good with a 9-1 run. The Lancers (4-7 overall) had trailed as late as 18-15.
"We've been working on our blocking in practice, and we did a nice job of that v. Long Beach," said PCC interim head coach Bill Sanchez. "It took us a while to get going in that first set. From the time we started to really control the net, we controlled the rest of the match."
