Football's Kitlo Meme Named SCFA NNC Player of the Week
For the first time in 2013, a Pasadena City College football player received recognition as a SCFA National Northern Conference Player of the Week. Freshman running back-punter Kitlo Meme was named in the Special Teams/All-Purpose category after his performance in PCC's 31-15 loss at Moorpark on October 19.
Meme, a 5-foot-10, 195-pound product of Premier Academy in Pompano Beach, Fla., rushed for 68 yards in just 10 carries (leading the team) and punted five times for a 35-yards average. It was his impressive individual talent on a 2-point conversion run that capped his award.
Meme followed PCC's second touchdown late in the fourth quarter, by carrying the ball up the middle. Upon seeing five Moorpark tacklers swarming to stop him, Meme made a spectacular cut to his right and his speed was enough to record the two points, crossing the end zone untouched in the far corner (see photo). Earlier in the game, Meme nearly gained a first down on a fake punt and run but was stopped just a yard short of the marker.
Meme was a late addition to the Lancers roster a few weeks before the season and also a late choice to be named the team's punter after the original incumbent sophomore kicker decided to sit out the season.
