PCC Men's Basketball Hosts John J. Kennedy Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 29-Dec. 1
Pasadena City College and men's basketball head coach Michael Swanegan hosts the John J. Kennedy Thanksgiving Classic this Friday-Sunday, Nov. 29-Dec. 1 at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
The tournament is named after City of Pasadena District 3 councilman John J. Kennedy. Active in many organizations, Kennedy (pictured) served as president of the Pasadena branch of the NAACP as well as vice president of the Los Angeles Urban League. His family ties to Pasadena trace back 70 years.
The Lancers (currently 4-2 record) and five other teams will take part in the round-robin tournament. On Friday, Nov. 29, the Kennedy Classic opens with a 2 p.m. game between Ventura and Barstow, followed by a 4 p.m. contest between San Bernardino Valley and East Los Angeles. The Lancers will play their home opener at 6 p.m. against Occidental College's junior varsity.
