Men's Basketball Grabs 5th Place At SBCC Classic image

The state No. 15-ranked Pasadena City College men's basketball team improved its record to 8-4 overall in winning the consolation title at the 41st Santa Barbara City College Classic tournament held Dec. 12-14. In Saturday's fifth place final, the Lancers downed Bakersfield, 73-68.

All-Tournament selection and sophomore guard Jeffrey Dockett (pictured) scored 17 points, grabbed five rebounds and made three steals in the victory. Forward Taj Spencer added 12 points.

Freshman guard Jevon Shields (South Pasadena High), who also scored 12 points, and first-year guard Marsalis Ellison (Blair High) each sank four free throws in the final minutes to help seal the triumph.

PCC will host Santa Monica College on Friday, Dec. 20 in a 6 p.m. tipoff at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
