Throwers Stand Out At Cal State LA Track Meet
Sophomore women's athlete Yvette Bastidas placed in the top 8 in three throwing events at the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational meet to highlight the Pasadena City College track and field teams performance March 7-8.
Bastidas took sixth in the discus throw at 36.76 meters and was sixth in the javelin at 29.63 meters. She was eighth in the shot put at 9.15 meters. Bastidas competed against both 4-year university and community college participants.
On the men's side, freshman Nathan Wolitarsky placed eighth in the shot put (12.02 meters) and ninth in the discus (37.87 meters).
For the Lancers women, Breanna Clark took 13th overall in the 100 meters (12.50 seconds). In the 800 meters, Kailadnni Chavez was 19th at 2:34.57 and Tansica Sunkamaneevongse placed 20th at 2:34.61. In the 1,500 meters, Christina Shamirian placed 27th at 5:14.14.
In the men's competition, Brendan Greene won his heat and placed 25th overall in the 800 meters (2:02.63). Ruben Torres won his heat but was only 31st in the 3,000 meters (9:40.73) while Greene was 29th (9:33.82).
The PCC track and field teams are directed by first-year head coach Cedric Hill.
