PCC's Spencer Selected All-State Men's Basketball
Sophomore forward Taj Spencer, who led the Pasadena City College men's basketball team to the regional playoff quarterfinals, was named to the 2013-14 All-State Team released this week.
Spencer, a transfer from Mt. San Antonio College, had a spectacular season for the Lancers, who finished 21-10. Making the postseason for the first time since 2004, PCC was the No. 12 seed and Spencer helped the squad upset No. 5 seed Saddleback before being eliminated by No. 4 Chaffey. Chaffey advanced to the four-team, CCCAA State Championship tournament.
Spencer averaged 18 points a game and his 559 total points was 13th in the state. He was fifth in the state in total field goals with 210, all 2-point baskets. He averaged a Lancers' best 8.2 rebounds per contest. Early in the season, he reached the third highest single-game scoring total in PCC history with 43 points in an overtime win over Victor Valley.
The 6-foot-7, 220-pound Spencer is a product of Canyon Springs High (Moreno Valley).
