Men's Swim Enjoys 2 Dual Wins; Women Place 2nd In Dual Season
The Pasadena City College men's swim team picked up dual victories over Los Angeles Trade Tech and host Rio Hondo College Tuesday in a South Coast Conference double dual meet. The Lancers closed the dual meet season at 2-5 and look forward to the SCC Championships April 17-19 at Mt. San Antonio College.
PCC downed Rio Hondo, 151-37, and defeated Trade Tech, 163-41.
Ethan Nava scored event wins in the 50-yard freestyle (24.38), the 200 breaststroke (2:41.17), and 200 individual medley (2:25.19). Mohammed Esmaeilian won the 200 freestyle (2:00.14), the 200 butterfly (2:16.83), and 200 backstroke (2:18.70). Brendan Lee won the 100 butterfly (1:04.37) while Victor Torres captured the 500 freestyle (6:41.21) and had an uncontested win in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.99). Ryan Caceres also picked up a victory in the 1,000 freestyle (13:24.11).
WOMEN FINISH 7-1 IN SCC DUALS
The PCC women's team had an easy time in defeating Rio Hondo, 151-48, while scoring a forfeit over LA Trade Tech, which did not field a swimmer at the SCC meet.
Lancers' individual event wins were scored by Courtney Fukushima in the 1,000 freestyle (11:55.53), Stephy Lao in the 200 freestyle (2:15.80), Shannon Cheung in the 50 backstroke (31.08, uncontested), 100 breaststroke (1:15.95), and 50 butterfly (28.78), Jovana Meza in the 50 breaststroke (47.79, uncontested), Tiffany Wong in the 100 butterfly (1:06.27), 100 backstroke (1:10.57), and 100 IM (1:09.94, uncontested), and Connie Peng in the 50 freestyle (26.84).
Mt. San Antonio won the dual meet title while the Lancers finished in second place in the 9-team conference.
