Three PCC Women Qualify For SoCal Track Championships
Pasadena City College sophomore Breanna Clark qualified as the top seed in the 200 meters and No. 2 in the 400 meters with her performance at the Southern California Track and Field Prelims meet held May 3 at Riverside City College.

Clark ran the second fastest time in the state this year at 24.28 seconds to win her prelims heat. Mt. San Antonio's Sarah Dunmore, who has the state's fastest mark at 24.12 set at the Mt. SAC Relays, ran 24.31 to win her heat. The two are now set for a showdown at the SoCal Championships on Saturday, May 10 at Riverside.
Clark is the state leader in the 400 (55.33), but her heat-winning time of 56.48 at SoCal was second to Riverside's Shebanet'te Terry, who won her heat with a top seed time of 56.03.
Second-year thrower Yvette Bastidas qualified in eighth in the discus at 35.26 meters, but failed to qualify in the javelin as she was 15th in that event (30.83m). Sophomore Christina Shamirian raced a 12:07.68 to qualify in ninth overall in the 3,000 steeplechase. Freshman Tansica Sunkamaneevongse was 14th in the 1,500 race and missed qualifying at 5:02.47. Letterman Kailadnni Chavez missed out in 22nd (5:20.95) and also ended her season in the 800, finishing 27th at 2:32.50. Ashley Medina was 25th in the 1,500 (5:22.27).
MEN'S TRACK SEASON ENDS
The Lancers men's team officially saw its season close as no athlete qualified for the SoCal Finals at the Prelims. Freshman Brinten Reed placed 13th in the 400 hurdles (56.10). Nathan Wolitarsky placed 15th in the shot put (12.51 meters) and Brendan Greene was 18th in the 1,500 (4:09.87).
Russell Yu placed 24th overall in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:29.85) and Ruben Torres took 26th in the 10,000 meters at 35:55.23, a finals event.
