BREAKING NEWS--Volleyball Seed Switched To No. 5, Now Host Santa Barbara Tuesday, Nov. 20
Due to a re-seeding ordered by the CCCAA, the Southern California Regional Playoff women's volleyball field has changed with Pasadena City College moving from No. 6 to No. 5 in seeding and now playing No. 12 Santa Barbara City College. The first round match for the Lancers remains at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.
Santa Barbara (16-6) was slated No. 11 in the re-seeding but had to move to 12 due to a travel accomodation as it would have had to travel a longer distance to San Diego Mesa. Instead, the Vaqueros will travel to Pasadena while Cypress, the original PCC first round opponent, has moved to the No. 11 spot so it can play at Mesa.
The Lancers road to the CCCAA State Final Four championship also has taken a giant turn as it moves from one bracket to another. If PCC defeats Western State North Division champion Santa Barbara, it would face the winner of Orange Empire Conference second place and No. 4 seed Orange Coast v. No. 13 Citrus. PCC then would likely have to beat the state's No. 1-ranked team LA Pierce, the two-time defending state champion on a 60-match win streak, in the third round of regionals. The Lancers were swept by Orange Coast earlier in the season.
PCC defeated Santa Barbara earlier in the year in a sweep at the El Camino Quad Tournament in September. In 2010, the Lancers downed SBCC in five sets in the second round of regionals held at Hutto-Patterson Gym.
The re-seeding took place Monday evening in a conference call among the seeding representatives for the Southern Cal conferences.
