Top Scorer, Top Tackler Named All-SCFA NNC Football 2nd Team

A lean season for Pasadena City College football team translated to no First Team choices and only three Lancers picked to the 2012 All-SCFA National Northern Conference Second Team. The selections were all freshmen in kicker Martin Magana, defensive lineman Dalyou Pierson, and offensive lineman Jose Torres.

Magana, from Lincoln High, led the Lancers in scoring with 48 points, including 10 field goals in 16 attempts and 18-of-19 on extra point kicks. He is the first Lancers kicker in 11 years to reach double figures in FGs made and first in 17 seasons to be the PCC leader in scoring.

Torres, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound guard from Azusa High, emerged on a revamped offensive line that helped an improved PCC rushing game in the latter part of the season. The Lancers averaged 218 yards rushing in the final three games and PCC controlled the ball more than highly-ranked NNC opponents in Allan Hancock, champion Ventura, and Bakersfield.

Pierson, a 6-3, 255-pounder from Independence High in Bakersfield, used his quickness and anticipating moves to fill holes in leading the Lancers in tackles with 64. Nine of his tackles were behind the line of scrimmage.
