Tom LaDuke is a painter and sculptor known for meticulously crafted works that, in the words of the Los Angeles Times, explore “the region between perception and reality.”

A graduate of Cal State, Fullerton, LaDuke earned an MFA from the School of the ArtInstitute of Chicago, Illinois. His work is in numerous public collections, including theSolomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York City, New York; the Albright-Knox ArtGallery, Buffalo, New York; the Jumex Collection, Mexico City, Mexico; the PortlandArt Museum, Portland, Oregon, and the Museum Of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. His recent one-person exhibitions have been held at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Philadelphia; Weatherspoon Art Museum, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro; CRG Gallery, New York and Angles Gallery, Los Angeles. He lives in Los Angeles.

Pasadena City College launched an ambitious program in 1987 that brings prominent artists for a weeklong stay on campus, where the artists interact closely with students, faculty, and the larger campus community. In addition to his exhibition in the PCC Gallery, Tom LaDuke will spend the week of March 18 through 22 on campus, during which time he will present a public lecture, meet with PCC students, and create a new work for the PCC art collection.

Through this program, PCC has hosted celebrated artists such as painters Masami Teraokaand Wayne Thiebaud; installation artist Alexis Smith; quilt maker Faith Ringgold;eco-political art collective Futurefarmers; illustrator and “futurist” Syd Mead, and photographerWilliam Wegman, each of whom also donated works of art to the college. These works are displayed in the college’s Shatford Library and Boone Sculpture Garden.
