This is a Special Alert from the California Student Aid Commission

 

This Special Alert from the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) announces a notification to warn new 2014-15 Cal Grant awardees about a scam. New Cal Grant (or all financial aid) awardees should know that public agencies do NOT ask for money to process financial aid.

 

The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) wants all students to know that Cal Grants are free.

 

If you are asked to pay for your Cal Grant, take these steps:

 

1. File a report with your local law enforcement agency or contact PCC Campus Police (626) 585-7484.

 

2. Notify the California Attorney General's Office at www.ag.ca.gov or call 800-952-5225.

or the Federal Trade Commission www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1 or call 888-224-7268. 

 

Students may also contact CSAC at studentsupport@csac.ca.gov.
