President’s Latino Advisory Committee Scholarship

Description:

The Pasadena City College President’s Latino Advisory Committee (PLAC) provides four $1,000.00 scholarships to PCC students through the PLAC Scholarship Fund. The committee strives to improve the educational success of Latino students at PCC.

Eligibility:

A student eligible for this scholarship must:
• Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
• Have completed at least 12 cumulative units at PCC by the end of Winter 2010.
• Be a student (taking a minimum of 9 course units) at PCC during Spring 2010.
• Plan to enroll at PCC (a minimum of 12 course units) in Fall 2010 and Spring 2011.
• Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Demonstrate how through his/her interactions with the Latino community he/she has an understanding of the Latino culture.
• Demonstrate how achieving his/her career goals will positively affect the Latino community.
• Have been involved in extracurricular activities or community activities.

Application Requirements:

To be considered for a scholarship you must complete and sign the application. This includes:

Enclose an official copy of your transcript (academic work completed only at PCC).
Write a personal statement of purpose as specified in the application.
List extracurricular activities and community service activities.
Complete the financial information in the application.
Enclose two letters of recommendation as specified in the application.

Submit completed application and required supporting documents in one envelope by March 12, 2010 to the:
