News: 16Th-Ranked Women'S Volleyball Stunned by Mt. Sac
The Pasadena City College women's volleyball team realized despite this week's rise to No. 16 in the state rankings that its performance relied on keeping a short rotation healthy. So when it was learned that top middle blocker Kendra Logan would have to sit out Wednesday's match at Mt. San Antonio for precautionary reasons due to a minor concussion, it was clear the Lancers were in a vulnerable state.
Mt. San Antonio, unranked in the Top 25 for the first time this season, took advantage of the Lancers' dilemma and upset PCC in four sets, 26-24, 25-18, 20-25, 25-14.
PCC fell to 5-8 overall and 3-1 in the South Coast Conference.
Nora To'omalatai led the Lancers with 15 kills and 10 digs while Briana Hilton had her best match of the year with 14 kills.
Ultimately the Lancers couldn't defend the net without Logan's presence as the team totaled just one block by Thula Parks, who had to go to the middle after playing outside hitter all season.
PCC returns to action Friday, October 18 as it travels to face East Los Angeles College in a 6 p.m. conference match.
