News: PCC Mourns Loss Of Women's Basketball Player Angeline Jefferson

Angeline Jefferson, a member of the 2012-13 Pasadena City College women's basketball team, passed away Sunday after her valiant fight with cancer. She was 21. Jefferson battled back from Stage 2 Hodgkins lymphoma to play as a sophomore reserve guard for the Lancers two seasons ago. She was on target to graduate from PCC later this year.

Jefferson was a star prep player, first at Blair High and then at Maranatha High. She earned a playing scholarship to Cal State Los Angeles and appeared in 25 games her freshman season in 2010-11. She scored a college career-high 19 points in a Feb. 11, 2011 game v. UC San Diego.

Jefferson appeared in 21 games for the Lancers, averaging 2.6 points and 1.4 assists in the '12-13 season. A reserve most of the season, she was given a chance to start on Sophomore Night at PCC on Feb. 20, 2013 and scored six points in the team's regular season home finale.

She joined the Lancers only a few months after her cancer went into remission. A 2012 feature on Jefferson and her efforts to rebound from her illness appeared in the Pasadena Star-News and it can be found at the following link:
