News: PCC Football's Machado Signs Scholarship With Michigan State
Pasadena City College sophomore offensive lineman Miguel Machado, a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, has signed his scholarship letter of intent with Michigan State University Thursday morning as the second 2013 PCC player to commit to a 4-year university.
An All-SCFA National Northern Conference Second Team selection, Machado played starting tackle on head coach Fred Fimbres' 2012 and '13 Lancers teams. The 6-foot-6, 275-pound talent came to PCC from Miami Carol City Senior High in Florida.
Machado is the first Big Ten Conference recruit from PCC since 2007 when All-American quarterback David Pittman signed with the University of Minnesota. He is the first Lancer to commit to Michigan State since Tony Manley in 1982. Machado joins defensive end Dalyou Pierson, who signed Wednesday with Iowa State University, as PCC players joining major university programs.
The Spartans of MSU were Rose Bowl and Big Ten champions this past season, finishing 13-1 and No. 3 in the final national rankings. The program is directed by head coach Mark Dantonio.
Machado chose MSU after strongly considering an offer from Purdue University, another Big 10 college.
