April 2014, Leslie Carpio

Leslie Carpio started working as a student worker for the ESL Center in spring of 2013. Since then, Leslie has provided outstanding service in the ESL Center to various groups of ESL students, as well ESL tutors, faculty and coworkers.

Leslie was recommended by the ESL Center Committee and other ESL tutors as well. "Leslie is the first CalWORKs work-study student that we hired for the Center. She is superior in all that she has done for the Center," says Freya, the ESL Center clerk. In addition, Professor Michelson states, “She is a pleasant, efficient and capable employee. She is always ready to help our students and staff patiently, politely, and above all, with a smile. When Leslie's on the job, we know everything will be just fine.  Leslie's casual yet professional demeanor make her a great addition to our team in the ESL Center."

Leslie is planning to go into nursing and is transferring to Cal State LA in 2016. During her busy week, she constantly tackles being a student, a single mother, and working at the ESL Center with full energy. During her spare time, she likes to go out and enjoy fun times with her friends.

Because of the outstanding service she has given, it is no surprise that we are pleased to announce Leslie Carpio for the Outstanding Student Employee Award. It is our honor to have Leslie as part of our staff in the ESL Center.

 Congratulations, Leslie!
