News: Men's Soccer Among Mighty SCC Elite
After a 2-0 victory at East Los Angeles College Tuesday, the Pasadena City College men's soccer team continued to be part of a powerful South Coast Conference that boasts five of the top 10 teams currently in the regional power points ratings. PCC is ninth on that list.
The Lancers improved to 6-5-5 overall and 5-3-1 in SCC play. PCC is in third place in the conference standings with 16 points, trailing second place Cerritos by three points and first place Mt. San Antonio by five.
Against the Huskies, Luis Flores picked up two more assists to give him a team-leading nine. In the 22nd minute, he first fed a cross that teammate Zack Larson served as a screen, allowing the ball to reach Eric Chavez, who ripped a one-time shot in the box for his seventh goal. Chavez (pictured) tied Flores for team-high in the goals category.
In the 68th minute, PCC capped the scoring as Flores placed a through ball past two ELAC defenders as Larson went on a breakaway. Larson finished with a chip over the goalie for his sixth goal.
PCC goalie Gaetano Perez made eight saves to pick up his third shutout of the season.
The Lancers host Long Beach City College on Friday, Nov. 1 in a 3 p.m. conference kickoff at Robinson Stadium.
