News: 1-1 Tie For Women's Soccer At ELAC
Cassandra Saaevedra scored the Lancers' lone goal in the 49th minute as the Pasadena City College women's soccer team tied host East Los Angeles College, 1-1, in a South Coast Conference game played Tuesday.
The Lancers remain in third place in the SCC, knotting the sixth-place Huskies for the second time this year by the same 1-1 score. ELAC had taken a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute on a penalty kick goal by Jessica Guzman.
Saaevedra (pictured) knocked in a short-range shot for her seventh goal after Isabella Montano fed her a pass in the goal mouth. The PCC score came only a minute after Nancy Nunez was foiled on a penalty kick. Nunez, who is tied with teammate Vanessa Capra for the conference and team lead in goals with 11, was stopped on her attempt by East LA goalie Belen Rodriguez.
Rodriguez finished with five saves while PCC goalie Tatiana Sanchez made four saves.
PCC (9-4-3 overall) is 5-2-2 in conference matches. The Lancers will host Long Beach City College on Friday, October 27 in a 4 p.m. match at Robinson Stadium.
