News: Reggie Rivas Promoted To Co-Head Coach of PCC Women's Soccer

An assistant coach the past two seasons, Reggie Rivas was promoted to co-head coach of the Pasadena City College women's soccer team, effective immediately. Rivas will team with current co-head coach Randy Lilavois for the 2013 season, according to PCC athletic director John Woods. The co-head coaching spots are both part-time positions with the college.

Rivas has an extensive soccer background, including his work as the founder and vice president of operations for the popular Crescenta Valley Soccer Club (CVSC). Rivas has produced many college-bound players through the club, created in 2001, one of them being South Coast Conference leading goal scorer Nancy Nunez from the 2012 PCC second-place team. All three of the Lancers' all-conference first team selections were former CVSC members in Nunez, team-leading points scorer Vanessa Capra, and defender Hallie White.

In 2002, Rivas was head coach the Crescenta Valley High girls soccer team, a squad that finished as the runner-up in the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs. In two head coaching stints at CVHS, Rivas produced an 89-24-17 record, including back-to-back Pacific League titles in 2009-2010. He was named Pacific League Coach of the Year in 2010. He also served as an assistant coach for UCLA's women's team back in 2002.

Rivas played at Modesto Junior College and Cal State University-Northridge before an injury ended his playing career in the late 1990s.

Lilavois, who directed this year's Lancers to their first playoff appearance since 2007, is taking a leave of absence from PCC to join his family in Huntsville, Alabama, but is expected to return to the PCC program in summer, 2013. Rivas served as Lilavois' top assistant coach the past two seasons and both have also worked together in coaching various squads through the CVSC.
