News: Papac's Goal In Extra Time Earns Women's Soccer Tie
Sophomore Amanda Papac scored three minutes into extra time to allow the Pasadena City College women's soccer team to tie host Mt. San Antonio, 1-1, in a South Coast Conference game played Tuesday.
Papac's team-leading fourth goal came on an assist by sophomore Lizbeth Rodriguez. Lancers goalie Angie Ulmer made four saves. Mt. SAC had led 1-0 on a goal by
PCC ended a two-match losing streak, but remains winless in its last four matches at 0-2-2. The Lancers are 3-4-4 overall and 1-2-2 in conference play. In the two SCC ties, the Lancers were able to score second-half goals after being behind 1-0 in each.
On October 11 at Los Angeles Harbor College, PCC could not hold on to a 1-0 lead and fell to the Seahawks, 2-1. Kaylin Richards scored a penalty kick goal in the 21st minute that gave the Lancers the lead. Harbor responded on a penalty kick of their own for a goal by Ashley Flanigan in the 66th minute. LAHC then scored the game-winner with eight minutes remaining on a short-range goal by Jessica Ma. Ulmer made six saves in defending the PCC net.
The Lancers will be tested Friday, October 18 when they host undefeated Cerritos College (11-0, 5-0 to lead the SCC) in a 3 p.m. match at Robinson Stadium. PCC is winless at home this season at 0-2-1. Meanwhile, the Falcons are 6-0 on the road, outscoring home opponents, 23-2.
