News: Volleyball's Megan Callen Earns Scholarship To Dominican University
Middle blocker Megan Callen became the first Lancer sophomore from the 2012 South Coast Conference co-champion Pasadena City College women's volleyball team to move to the next level. Callen signed a scholarship to attend and play at NCAA Division II Dominican University of California.
Callen was a two-time, All-South Coast Conference selection at PCC, making the First Team this past season after being a Second Team choice in 2011. In her two seasons, Callen helped the Lancers to a 41-10 overall record and a pair of trips to the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
She averaged 2.11 attack kills and 0.78 block kills per set this season. Her .365 hitting percentage was second best on the Lancers.
The 6-foot-1 Callen played for a CIF Southern Section champion at St. Lucy's Priory (Glendora) and originally accepted a scholarship offer to the University of North Florida. Just before the 2011 season, Callen transferred to PCC and joined the team a few weeks into the schedule.
Callen played under the direction of Lancers head coach Tammy Silva. For the Penguins of Dominican (located in San Rafael), Callen will play for head coach Gayle Stammer.
