News: No. 12 Seed Women's Volleyball At No. 5 SD Mesa Tuesday, Nov. 26
The Pasadena City College women's volleyball team has earned the No. 12 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs as it will play at No. 5 San Diego Mesa on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The first round match is scheduled for first serve at 5 p.m. (Note new start time, 11/25).
The Lancers (14-9, state No. 17-ranked, and the second place team from the South Coast Conference) are making their sixth straight appearance in the postseason. They take on a state No. 5-ranked Mesa Olympians team that finished 23-4 and as co-champions of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC).
If PCC gets by San Diego Mesa, it would face the winner of the No. 4 Santa Barbara City v. No. 13 Citrus match on Saturday, Nov. 30 in round 2.
PCC is 6-5 in its last 11 playoff matches. It hasn't reached the CCCAA State Championships since 1995 when it finished a school-best ever third place at the state tourney.
The Lancers are directed by interim head coach Bill Sanchez, who is assisted by Kari Post and Jerry Checinski.
