Badminton's Season Ends Without Fanfare

After the past five seasons in which the Pasadena City College women's badminton team has won conference titles as a team and recorded several trophies at both the South Coast Conference and state individual championship and consolation events, the 2014 campaign was one that the Lancers couldn't rise to the occasion.

Baseball Hall of Famer Ernie Banks once said it was a great day for a ball game, so let's play two. That's exactly what the Pasadena City College badminton team did Wednesday in scoring back-to-back, 11-0 sweeps at El Camino College.

State Defending Champ De Anza Downs Badminton, 13-8

The Pasadena City College women's badminton team received a visit from the defending CCCAA champions from Northern California, De Anza College on Wednesday. The Lancers played the Dons tough, but De Anza prevailed, 13-8, in the non-conference match at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

Badminton's SCC Title Run Likely To End At 5

The balance of power in South Coast Conference women's badminton has shifted at least in 2014. Winner of the last five conference team dual season crowns, Pasadena City College has met its match in rival East Los Angeles. The Huskies defeated the Lancers, 15-6, Friday at PCC's Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium and took a commanding 2-game lead in the standings.

ELAC Proves It's Still A Thorn In Badminton's Side

After getting off to a good start with two commanding wins to open South Coast Conference play, Pasadena City College’s women’s badminton team traveled to Monterey Park on Wednesday to take on its old foe, East Los Angeles College. The balance of power appears to be shifting ELAC’s way as the Lancers lost to the Huskies for the third straight time going back to last season, 14-7.

The Pasadena City College women's badminton team moved to 2-0 with a 21-0 blanking of El Camino College in a South Coast Conference match played Friday at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

A five-time defending champion of the South Coast Conference, the Pasadena City College women's badminton team has endured a little more adversity of late thanks to last year's surprising tie for the title with East Los Angeles combined with one of the Lancers' most inexperienced rosters in 2014.

Rebuilding Time For Women's Badminton

For the first time since his first season at Pasadena City College in 2008, head coach Bill Sanchez doesn't have a dominant singles player to lead his squad. The Lancers are 5-time defending South Coast Conference champions and featured 2012 CCCAA state singles champ Angie Ortiz on the roster the last two seasons.
