The unranked Lancers opened the San Bernardino Valley Alvin Hunter Classic on November 14 with a matchup against the region's No. 3-rated Saddleback Gauchos. PCC had faced No. 1 Antelope Valley in its previous tournament at Ventura, losing to the Marauders by 22 points.

The Lancers used veteran leadership and the play of graduated All-State forward Taj Spencer to win 21 games and reach the SoCal Playoffs for the first time in 10 seasons.

Pasadena City College men's basketball guard Mike Swanegan, an All-South Coast Conference North Division selection from the 2012-13 team, accepted a scholarship to continue his education and playing career at William Penn University (Iowa). Swanegan played for his father, Lancers head coach Michael Swanegan, for two seasons at PCC.
