The Pasadena City College women's swim team picked up 2014 All-American honors in 13 separate events, including four relays, at the recently released Community College All-American lists. The top 16 fastest times for all of the nation's community colleges qualify for the honors.

History was made Friday at the CCCAA Swimming and Diving State Championships as Pasadena City College sophomore Shannon Cheung captured the college's first-ever state title in women's swimming with her champion performance to win the 200-yard individual medley race. Cheung won in a time of 2 minutes, 6.89 seconds. The event took place on day 2 of the state meet at East Los Angeles College's Swim Stadium.

While no school records were set Thursday, the Pasadena City College women's swim team had a strong start to the California Community College Athletic Association Championships by scoring 91 points to currently place it sixth after day 1 of the meet. Seven swimmers had better seed times in the 200-yard freestyle than Pasadena City College freshman Mohammad Esmaeilian as the final heat took place Saturday at the 14th Pasadena Invitational. By the end of the heat, it was Esmaeilian, from the eighth lane, who scored an improbable but stirring win in the event in a personal-best time of 1 minute, 45.13 seconds.
