The Pasadena City College women's swim team did everything it could to try to win the South Coast Conference Championships, but nine event wins was not enough. El Camino College won only three events, but its strength in upper eight placings and two relay photo finishes over the Lancers proved to be the difference. PCC settled for second place while ECC won its first conference team title in 13 years at the SCC Finals held April 16-18 at East Los Angeles College.

In 2013 and 2014, the Pasadena City College women's swim teams rewrote the college's record book in nearly every event. While more successful from a team aspect, the 2015 Lancers hadn't approached the records until Friday when a trio of Lancers shined on Day 2 of the South Coast Conferece Championships.

After being shutout of the first place medals at last year's South Coast Conference Championships, the Pasadena City College men's swim team returned to the winner's circle on Thursday when sophomore Mohammad Esmaeilian captured the conference's 50-yard freestyle title on Day 1 of the 2015 championships at East Los Angeles College. The meet continues Friday-Saturday, April 17-18.

Perfection. The Pasadena City College women's swim team completed the first part of its 2015 journey with a perfect record of 8-0 to win the South Coast Conference dual season title Friday. The Lancers recorded wins over El Camino, 171-90, and host Rio Hondo, 210-38.

For the first time in four years, the Pasadena City College men's swim team defeated Chaffey in a dual meet. The Lancers prevailed, 137-122, and improved to 1-2 in the South Coast Conference in winning the dual held at East Los Angeles College.

In 2003, the Pasadena City College women's swim team won its only South Coast Conference team championship in the sport. Since that time, while different schools have won the title, Mt. San Antonio has been a consistent hurdle for the Lancers. But on opening day of the SCC dual season Friday, host PCC broke an 11-year streak of losses to the Mounties and swept a double dual over Mt. SAC, 154-117, and Cerritos, 175-96.

A season after watching its first state individual champion in Shannon Cheung, the Pasadena City College women's swim team hopes another one will emerge in 2015. Letterman Connie Peng is one who could challenge as she led the 12-women team during the season-opening SCC Pentathlon meet held February 13 at Rio Hondo College.

Shannon Cheung, the first women's individual state swimming champion ever at Pasadena City College, earned one more award for the college in being selected to the 2014 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Scholar Athlete Honor Roll.

Shannon Cheung, a two-time CCCAA state champion for Pasadena City College, has made the UCLA women's swim team roster as a walk-on. Cheung participated in her first 4-year university meet in the Bruins' dual meet victory over Washington State on October 10 at UCLA.
