Design Technology Pathway

The Design Technology Pathway is an innovative program for new PCC students interested in a rewarding career in:

Architecture Engineering Fashion Film + Theatre Design
Graphic Design Jewelry Design Photography Product Design
Interior Design Industrial/Product Design Media Arts Production Screen Printing

The goal of the Design Technology Pathway Program is to help students successfully transition into professional degree and transfer programs, Career and Technical Education Certificate Programs, and rewarding careers in the design world.

Working in teams, Pathway students will develop creative and technical skills while designing innovative solutions to real world problems.

Application Process:

  1. Enroll in Pasadena City College at www.pasadena.edu/starthere/
  2. Take PCC's Math and English placement tests. Information is available www.pasadena.edu/studentservices/assessment/
  3. After completing steps 1 and 2, complete the Design Technology Application immediately for Fall 2013 semester. (The Design Technology Application for Fall 2013 will be available to complete after February 28th)

  4. Please complete survey to receive information about Fall 2013 application

Requirements:

  • Students must be interested in a career in design
  • Students must test into English 100/1A and Math 402/125 on PCC's placement tests
  • Students must commit to taking classes in the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters

Design Tech offers:

  • Guaranteed enrollment in Math and English courses
  • Use of advanced prototyping technologies -
    3D Design Software, Laser Cutting, 3D Printing + Scanning, CNC Milling
  • Developmental Math and English courses focused on design
  • Career counseling, tutoring, and other support services
  • Earn an AA/AS degree
  • Workforce Readiness certificate
