Personal Info

Dr. Bárbara Padrón-León has her Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin America Literature from the University of California at Irvine (UCI). She is a well-known speaker in many countries on Latin American Theater and Afro-Cuban Culture. Every year, she visits Spain to participate on the organization of the forums for the Ibero-American Theater Festival in the city of Cadiz, Spain. Successfully, she has taken students to Mexico, and Spain on abroad language programs. For five years, she has been taken PCC's students to Madrid on the Abroad Summer Program. Dr. Padron-Leon has been teaching Spanish language, and Latin American and Spanish Literature in several universities and colleges in Southern California. She has been active in combining the study of Spanish Language and Literature with the study of arts and film in interdisciplinary programs at UCI, and now, at PCC. In Cuba, she taught English, and Comparative Literature in English. For twenty years, she was a music and choir director in Cuba, and in different churches in Southern California. She loves to travel, to dance and she has a passion for literature, theater, music and arts. For five years, she has been co-directing with Dr. Lola Proaño-Gómez PCC's Spanish Theater Group, TROTEATEATRO. At the present time, she is the advisor/founder of the students Spanish Club, LOS BOHEMIOS. Dr. Padron-Leon is a member of PCC Latino Advisory President's Committee. Right now, she is the Foreign Languages Coordinator, and she keeps coordinating the Summer Study Abroad Program in Madrid each year. If you ask her, what is her greatest passion, she will say: "GOD, MY FAMILY, AND MY STUDENTS."
