Independent Learning plans for your ESL students
The mission of the ESL Center is to complement your class curriculum. When sending your students to the ESL Center, please make sure they have a clear idea of what you'd like them to do. You can have your students fill out the Independent Learning plan. The language improvement plan is designed for students to foster independent learning and to help ESL students make and reach their language goals. Students record ESL Center activities and their own language progress. ESL instructors may choose to require students submit their self-assessment at the middle and/or end of each semester for course credit, or individual students may wish to use the plan on their own.

If you would like to borrow a DVD to review at home or use in your classrooms, PCC ESL faculty can check out a DVD and take it home for up to 3 days. For a comprehensive list of films containing links to student materials and teacher lesson plans for certain films, you can download the Movie List for Faculty. If you would like to bring your class to view the film in the ESL Center, please check the room schedule.
Desk copies and instructor manuals for ESL classroom textbooks are now stored in ESL Center. Feel free to stop by and look at the books that are in the locked cabinet at the far end of the main room. You will need to request a key to access the cabinet. If it doesn't have a barcode on it, you can sign it out with the front desk worker and eventually let Freya Lin (626-585-3189; fflin@pasadena.edu) know if you intend to keep it.

Also, the ESL Center relies on faculty participation. If you have an idea for a workshop, a suggestion for future acquisitions to the collection, suggestions on which textbooks work with the current offering of DVDs or if you have created lesson plans to share with current materials in the ESL Center, please let one of the ESL Center faculty members know.
