BRUCE A CARTER: (also former Natural Sciences Division Dean): B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from Caltech. Special interests include the western San Gabriel Mountains, faults and earthquakes in the Mojave Desert, and the origin of magmas and volcanic rocks in the Klamath Mountains.

DR. JANET HAMMOND GORDON: B.A., Occidental College; M.S. CSU Long Beach; Ph.D., University of Southern California. Special interests include descriptive mineralogy, igneous petrology, Proterozoic geology, and continental rifting.
