| The Theater Arts program emphasizes developing the craft of
acting. Four major shows, in addition to several one-act plays,
are produced yearly under the faculty's direction. Also, the department
often produces musicals, in conjunction with the Music Department,
as well as a Summer Theatre Workshop. Classes in technical theater
skills, such as theatrical stage design and lighting, are also an
integral part of the program.
Theater Arts majors have a choice of theater arts teaching or professional
stage performance and production. The major in theater arts, while
preparing students for transfer, develops the creative, professional
attitude required for a successful career in the theater. Related
careers include actor, director, costumer, drama coach, set designer,
business manager, and instructor.
