Music Advisement

Music Majors have two avenues for obtaining information and counseling, and they are encouraged to take advantage of both. First, make an appointment with a music faculty to discuss music courses, potential transfer schools, emphasis or specialization options, and to get an idea of what is expected of a music major. Consult the list of music faculty below. Second, make an appointment with a school counselor for academic counseling, which includes general education and transfer requirements. Harry Bloodgood specializes in counseling music majors. Academic counseling is offered in L-104. Call (626) 585-7251 for counseling and career services and (626) 585-7950 or (626) 585-7951 for the advisement center.

The Music Department hosts an Advisement Week each semester to facilitate students seeing a Music Faculty advisor. Full time faculty reserve their office hours during the sixth week of the semester to advise students. Students sign up in the Music Lab during the fifth week of the semester for an appointment with the faculty of their choice (see the list above). For questions about the Music Advisement program, call Robert Eaton at (626) 595-7590.
