PCC Cinema Program Certificates

The PCC Cinema Program offers two vocational Certificates, listed under the Photography department, in Cinema Production /Filmmaking and in Cinematography. 

Both certificate programs prepare students for entry-level employment armed with a holistic knowledge and approach to filmmaking.  These courses of study will also empower students to transfer and then compete effectively in cinema production programs at four-year colleges and universities. 

 

Certificate in Photography – CINEMA PRODUCTION/FILMMAKING

This course of study prepares students with entry-level skills to seek employment in the motion picture industry (cinema and television). 

The program emphasizes both industry-standard production practices and artful thinking, with an eye towards innovation. 

Hands-on applications of classic and contemporary filmmaking principles include operation of video, film, and digital cameras, lighting equipment, production sound, computerized film editing, storytelling and writing skills, and professional organizational skills.

Certificate in Photography – Cinema – CINEMATOGRAPHY

The curriculum prepares students for entry-level employment in motion picture camera crews for dramatic, documentary, advertising, or industrial films. The program introduces students to the responsibilities of, and skills needed for the Director of Photography, Camera Operator and Camera Assistants. 

Emphasis is placed on understanding cinematography as a part of a holistic approach to filmmaking.

Hands-on applications of classic and contemporary filmmaking principles include operation of video, film, and digital cameras, lighting equipment, computerized film editing, storytelling and writing skills, and professional organizational skills.
