Lincoln Heights / Cypress Park

neighborhood

Lincoln Heights developed around part of the former los Feliz Rancho that became one of Los Angeles early public parks. Originally known as East Los Angeles Park and later Eastlake Park, this area was home to LA's first zoo and many amusement attractions. William Selig constructed one of LA's first movie studios here. The park changed to Lincoln Park in 1917 and the area came to be known as Lincoln Heights. North Broadway has long been the commercial heart of the city and remains so today. Cypress Park is home to the Los Angeles River Center. The Center's exhibits detail how man and the rivers have shaped each other's destiny in the LA basin.
