Memorial Park

station overview

The Memorial Park Station is located on the northern edge of historic Old Pasadena adjacent to Memorial Park, the Pasadena Senior Citizen's Center, and a short walk to City Hall and Pasadena's Central Library. The station is situated beneath the existing Holly Street Village Apartments that were constructed in 1994 in anticipation of a light rail station at this site. In this venue, the station becomes a semi-tunnel reminiscent of the caverns, rock cliffs, and natural formations that the California Indians decorated with rock paintings. These early artists created pictographs, some of which remained intact and untouched until the late 191h century. Relatively few Southern Californians are aware of this wealth of imagery and symbolism from the ancestors of people who live among us today.
