Tony Gleaton, artist
Off the pedestrian over crossing while climbing down one of two stairwells that lead to the platform, the passenger is confronted by Tony Gleaton's art element for the station. Suspended approximately 16 feet above each stairway is a large double-sided porcelain enameled steel panel that is visible from both directions. Images depicted on these panels are portraits of people the artist describes as "the others." These are individuals with disparities that, on the surface, seem to be divisive, but in fact bind us together in the human condition and act as a state of grace that lies dormant within us all.
The artist has a continuing interest in photographic portraiture, and these representations reflect his singular vision.
