CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Requirement for Certificate of Achievement (48 units)

The curriculum prepares students to seek employment in the advertising/graphics design industry as entry-level production designers or junior graphic designers.  Emphasis is on a solid foundation in the area of commercial art. Students will develop a portfolio.

Semester I

  • Art 11A - Foundation Drawing
  • Art 15 - Sketching for Design
  • Art 31A - Color and Composition-Two Dimensional Design
  • Photo 21 - Elementary Photography

Semester II

  • Art 16 - Perspective
  • Art 32A - Three Dimensional Design
  • Art 50A - Introduction to Advertising Graphic Design
  • Art 51A - Lettering Fundamentals

Semester III

  • Art 18 - Rendering
  • Art 50B - Intermediate/Graphic Design
  • Art 56 - Computer Assisted Drawing & Painting
  • Photo 30 - Introduction to Electronic Darkroom Imaging

Semester IV

  • Art 50C - Advanced Advertising/Graphic Design
  • Art 52 - Illustration
  • Photo 130 - Advanced Electronic Photo Imaging
  • AND one of the following:
  • Art 1A - History of Western Art
    OR Art 1B - History of Western Art
