FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is what you usually do to get your web files onto the server where they can be accessed over the internet.

If you want to use an FTP client on your own computer, you can download one of several free FTP clients from the internet. Here is a tutorial and source for a fairly easy application called FTP Surfer.
