THE PLACE TO GO
by Theresa Forand
Sometimes I hear people say,
That going to the library is just not their way,
It’s so shocking to hear that I stop in my tracks,
And wonder if they’ll take it back,
Because more than anything I know,
The library is the place to go.
Many occasion has there been,
When problems seem to just happen,
In these times I always find,
That the library is very kind,
The soft silence that greets me here,
Make my problems disappear,
This escape it provides is precious and sure,
And is much more effective than any cure.
Education is an important part of life,
Needed to divert most future strife,
That is why it is so clear,
As to why a library is so dear,
It does not cost even a thing,
To find a chair and start reading,
I hope that everyone will see,
Just how wonderful it is to be,
One of many who share the gift,
Of having knowledge at their fingertips.
Of all the places in this earth,
There is only one that gives birth,
To hope, ideas, and imagination galore,
While helping people to seek out more,
More than that, it is a sanctuary,
And provides escape from the dreary,
Day to day setbacks of our lives,
While helping people to reach their prize,
Truly it is a blessing dear,
To have such a library so near.
