Library Technology Certificate
Considering opportunities for working in the information-based world of libraries. PCC’s Library Technology Certificate or Associate In Science Degree curriculum will prepare you with job skills to be successful in a library workplace.
In the Library Technology program you will learn about library public and technical services with practical instruction and training in the use of library automated systems. Library Technology courses provide introductory training if you are just entering the field, or provide continuing education opportunities if you’re already employed.
The Library Technology Certificate requires a minimum of 19 units including seven required courses.
To earn an Associate of Science Degree in Library Technology, you must complete the 19-unit certificate program along with the AS general education requirements and electives for a total of 60 units.
Our program prepares you to work as a library technician or assistant in any type of library where your duties could include customer service, technical services, or clerical and administrative tasks. Library technicians and assistants generally work under the supervision of a librarian, but your duties can include responsibilities for daily library operations.
