Application for the Digitization Skills Certificate for Fall 2013 will be accepted online March 18 -  May 10, 2013.

Admission to the Digitization Skills Certificate program will be based on :

1. Completed online program application. (The link will be posted Monday March 18, 2013)

Note: The application requires a brief description of your career goals and reasons for your interest in completing the Digitization Skills Certificate (up to 400 words).

If you are not currently a PCC student, you will also need to apply for admission or re-admission to PCC. 
Apply online for Summer 2013 or Fall 2013 beginning Thursday February 28, 2013. www.pasadena.edu/starthere/
Note: apply as early as possible; the online application is free.

2. Successful completion of BIT 25 SURVEY OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY IN BUSINESS or equivalent course
(You may address your previous related experience and how you meet the required prerequisite computer skills course in the application. You will not be able to register for LIB 121 without meeting the prerequisite of BIT 25 see Prerequisite Course information below ). 

 

3. A commitment to take all Four required courses as scheduled (see below).

Completion of this certificate takes approximately 1 year (Fall 2013 - Summer 2014).  See Program Overview and Required Courses page for more information.

 

4. Enrollment is limited to 30 students. 

If the number of applications exceeds 30, priority will be based on the strength of the application and meeting the other criteria listed above.  Completion of PCC’s Library Technology Certificate program is preferred but not required.

Summer 2013

• BIT 25 SURVEY OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY IN BUSINESS
  Course Description: Survey of business computer technology, business software environments, and commonly used business software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and database management. (3.0 units; 54 hours lecture). Transfer Credit: CSU.

  If you have met this course prerequisite with a course at another college or some other way, you must clear the prerequisite with a "Prerequisite Challenge Form" and the form must be approved by the Library Dean. (The form is available online: Prerequisite Challenge Form )

Fall 2013: LIB 121 INTRO. TO TECHNOLOGIES FOR DIGITAL COLLECTIONS - Tuesday evenings, Aug 27 -Dec. 10, 2013

Spring 2014: LIB 122 INTRO. TO METADATA FOR DIGITAL OBJECTS tentative: Tuesday evenings

Summer 2014: LIB 123 INTRO. TO COPYRIGHT ISSUES FOR DIGITAL COLLECTIONS, tentative: Tuesday evenings

Summer 2014: LIB 126 DIGITIZATION SKILLS INTERNSHIP, 60 hours volunteer work on a digitization project. (TBA )
