Creating Web Photo Galleries (Photoshop CS2 and earlier)The easiest way to create photo galleries for the web is to use the built in Web Photo Gallery feature of Photoshop which creates photo galleries like the one shown here.
Each photo must have a description to be used on the web. This is called alt text. You will add the description in Photoshop as Metadata on your original image so that it is permanently set. You do this before creating a web photo gallery. PCC has a standard template, one with photo captions and one without. The templates have been set up to make sure Web Photo Galleries for the PCC web comply with Section 508 for accessibility. Download the templates and instructions here: PCC-alt text.zip and PCC-caption.zip Instructions for using templates to create a standard accessible PCC Web Photo Gallery Creating Web Photo Galleries with Photoshop CS3Download the templates here: PCC_Gallery_caption.zip and PCC_Gallery_no_caption.zip Instructions for using templates to create a standard PCC Web Photo Gallery The templates for Photoshop CS3 are linked to an external stylesheet. This means your pages may look unstyled when viewed on your local computer as shown here:
They will render correctly when all files are properly put up on the server as shown here:
If you do not have Photoshop installed on your office computer, you can request it from Computing Services. (Staff, request through manager.) Or come to the New Media Center Technology Training Lab in LL118 which has the necessary software and templates installed. |
