Equipment Catalog

Below is a catalog of the equipment available for delivery and/or check out from the New Media Center. Next to each picture is a description of the equipment which includes the most common term used to refer to the equipment and possibly a more generic term in parentheses, information on the best use of the equipment, the number of units in the NMC inventory, its general availability, and any restrictions on its usage. VCR/Monitor Unit

DVD/VCR/Monitor w/cart.

These units are in the highest demand of all the equipment in the NMC inventory. Most of these units have closed-captioning capabilities. If you require closed-caption playback please be sure to request this when ordering a DVD/VCR/Monitor unit. Since these units are in such high demand, we recommend that you call to reserve a unit at least 24 hours in advance, and during most of the Fall and Spring semesters you may want to make your reservations as much as a week in advance. If you have reserved VHS videotapes or DVD from the NMC media collection, media cannot be delivered to your classroom with the VCR/Monitor unit for security reasons. Please make arrangements to pick up and return your media at the New Media Center, have an assistant pick up and return your tapes.

LCD Proj

LCD Projector

LCD Projectors (Data Projector) are designed to project computer output onto a large projection screen up to an eight foot wide image. This projector will accept a signal from a PC or Macintosh computer. If you have a MAC please note that you'll need an adaptor, we have a few different types of adaptors. Please come in and see if we have the type of adaptor you'll need. The maximum resolution it will accept is 1024x768. This projector will also handle a standard video signal from a VCR or camcorder. The LCD Projector is extremely bright and can be used in classrooms, conference rooms, and auditoriums that cannot be completely darkened. LCD Projectors are in high demand on our campus, so we recommend that you reserve this unit a week in advance. Also, if you have not used one previously, we strongly recommend that you schedule a test with our staff to insure that your computer can be successfully connected to the LCD Projector. For security reasons, LCD Projectors are only available for pickup at the NMC. Please call (626) 585-7292 to make your reservation.  LCD Projectors are to be used on PCC Campus only.

Overhead Projector

Another popular item on our campus are overhead projectors. Most classrooms are equipped with overhead projectors. If you require an A/V Cart to put the projector on, please be sure to request this when making your reservation. These units are available for delivery to your classroom or conference room.

16mm projector

16 MM Projector (Film Projector)

Even with the significant use of VHS videotape on our campus, 16mm film is still an available medium. The NMC media collection contains films, and although many of these films are old, they contain vital instructional content. These units are available for delivery to your classroom or conference room. 16mm Projectors are always delivered with A/V Carts. If you have reserved a 16mm film from the NMC media collection, your film(s) must be picked up from the NMC.

35mm slide projector

35mm Slide Projector (Carousel Projector)

Our Slides Projectors are delivered with an empty tray, a wired remote control, a spare lamp, and a 4"-6" zoom lens. The standard zoom lens generally has enough range to accommodate most classroom setups. If you require an A/V Cart to put the projector on, please be sure to request this when making your reservation. These units are available for delivery to your classroom or conference room.

VHS Camcorder and Tripod

Camcorders- VHS, VHS-C, Mini DV.

Camcorders are being used on campus for everything from videotaping student demonstrations and presentations to documenting field trips. Our Camcorders use a standard VHS videocassette that can be played back in any VCR on campus or elsewhere, VHS-C or Compact VHS, which can be played in a VCR with an adapter, or our Mini DV camcorders that can be played on a TV through an adapter cable.  Our Camcorders are checked out with all the adapters needed and A/C power supply. If you require a tripod and/or batteries please be sure to request this when making your reservation. For security reasons these units are only available for pick up from the Media Center. Camcorders are generally available for pick up with less than 24 hours notice, however, during the last few weeks of the Fall and Spring Semesters you may want to reserve a unit as much as a week in advance.

Instructors supply the mini tapes for the digital video camera.

CD/Cassette Player

CD/Cassette Player/Recorder

These industrial quality Compact Disc and Cassette Player/Recorders are excellent for listening to CDs and audio cassettes and for recording onto audio cassette. The CD player has a variable speed control which is excellent for language classes. The built-in microphone provides high quality recording of voice in most environments. These units run on A/C power through an attached cord. Some classrooms may require an extension cord. Be sure to request an extension cord if you need one when you make your reservation. For security reasons they are only available for pick up from the Media Center. CD/Cassette Player/Recorders are generally available for pick up with less than 24 hours notice, however, during the last few weeks of the Fall and Spring Semesters you may want to reserve a unit as much as a week in advance.

CD/Cassette/Radio Player/boombox

CD/Cassette/Radio Player/Recorder - (Boombox)

These consumer quality "boombox" style CD/cassette units are excellent for the playback of music and include an AM/FM receiver. They have high quality stereo sound with rich bass tones. The built-in microphones provide high quality recording of voice in most environments. These units run on A/C power through a detachable cord. Some classrooms may require an extension cord. Be sure to request an extension cord if you need one when you make your reservation. For security reasons these units are only available for pick up from the Media Center. CD/Cassette/Radio Player/Recorders are generally available for pick up with less than 24 hours notice, however, during the last few weeks of the Fall and Spring Semesters you may want to reserve a unit as much as a week in advance.

Audio Cassette Player - Small

These units are excellent for personal listening and recording of audio cassettes in offices or small classrooms or conference rooms. The built-in microphones provide adequate quality recording of voice in most environments. These units run on A/C power through an attached cord. Some classrooms may require an extension cord. Be sure to request an extension cord if you need one when you make your reservation. For security reasons these units are only available for pick up from the Media Center. The Small Audio Cassette Player/Recorders are generally available for pick up with less than 24 hours notice, however, during the last few weeks of the Fall and Spring Semesters you may want to reserve a unit as much as a week in advance.

Video Projector

Video Projectors are designed to project output from standard video sources such as a VHS player, DVD player, or camcorder onto a large projection screen up to an eight foot wide image. The Video Projector is delivered with a VHS video cassette player, DVD player and high-quality amplified speakers. The Video Projector has medium brightness and is designed to be used in classrooms, conference rooms, and auditoriums that are relatively dark. NMC has 1 of these units in the inventory. There are several regularly schedule uses of the Video Projector throughout the entire year, so availability is limited. We suggest that you make your reservation for this unit at least a week in advance. This unit is available for delivery to your classroom or conference room.

A/V Cart

Our standard A/V Cart is ideal for 16mm Projectors, Slide Projectors, Overhead Projectors, and many other general uses. Most carts have an attached two-outlet powerstrip with a fifteen foot extension cord. These units are available for delivery to your classroom or conference room.

Tripod Projection Screen

These Projection Screens are designed to be used in classrooms and conference without a permanently installed projections screen or when second screen is needed in a room. These units are eight feet wide. The Tripod Projection Screens are generally available for delivery with 24 hours notice and can be picked up from the Media Center on shorter notice.

MPO - Small (All-in-one VHS VCR & Monitor)

This 10" color monitor/receiver with a built-in VCR is excellent for playback of video at events off-campus such as recruiting fairs or conferences. This unit is also ideal for viewing video in offices. NMC has 2 Small MPO Units in the inventory. These units are available for delivery to your classroom, conference room, or office.

Easels - Wood & Metal

Our Wood Easels are best suited to display light-weight artwork such as posters and signage. Our Metal Easels can handle heavy artwork or chart pads. Metal Easels are delivered with a clean chart pad, however, we do not supply markers. These units are available for delivery to your classroom or conference room.
