News: PCC Sponsors Young African American Males Conference

Pasadena City College is proud to sponsor the annual Young African American Male’s Conference on Sept. 15 in Creveling Lounge. The conference, titled “Success by Choice: Focus on the Future,” is co-sponsored by the Metropolitan Community Action Services Corporation (MCASC).

The keynote speaker will be Dr. George McKenna, a pre-eminent educator and strong advocate for building stable communities from within. His presentation is titled “The Message of Empowerment.” The goal of the conference will be to empower, inspire, and provide the tools required for participants to achieve success in their chosen educational, career, and life goals.

The conference is aimed at young men between the ages of 12 and 25. Topics include developing good study habits, making successful educational and career choices, preparing for college exams, transferring in or out of a new college, what to expect on your first day of college, and developing a pathway to success.

Registration is free and includes continental breakfast and lunch. The conference starts at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 2:30 p.m.
