News: LancerPoint Tech Update - Thursday, June 6

Greetings PCC Family,

We’ve just completed two weeks of registration in LancerPoint and our credit classes are filled to 67.4 percent as of 7 a.m. of this morning. I wouldn’t say staff members are entirely comfortable with LancerPoint yet, but I think they would all agree that day-by-day they are becoming more and more familiar with it. It will take a while before LancerPoint is second nature to the staff like George was, but judging from the conversations I hear around the Admissions and Records office, I would say that they are indeed much more comfortable than they were 2 weeks ago.

Duplicate Records

Have you found a student in LancerPoint with two separate sets of records? This happens for various reasons, but the most common is that a student took a break from school and when they returned, they supplied different information (like a new address) and were subsequently issued a new student number. Often this isn’t caught until transcripts are ordered and the student notices that part of his/her work is missing. If you find that a student has duplicate records in LancerPoint, there is a Duplicates Resolution Team in place that will merge the records and correct the issue. To report found duplicates, please email the student’s name and the two student ID’s to duplicates@pasadena.edu. The Duplicates Resolution Team is meeting weekly to correct these problems.

Faculty Training

Faculty training begins this afternoon and continues for the next couple weeks. If you have not signed up yet, please do so here: http://doodle.com/kfpanuiyw3uqgbb6

Training at the CEC

Alison Wilcox from non-credit ESL offered LancerPoint Training at CEC this morning at 9:00-10:30am in room 138. Jeff Crosby from non-credit ESL will be offering LancerPoint Training at 8:00-9:30pm in room 116. Alison Wilcox will also be training CEC faculty on Tuesday, June 18, 11:30 am to 1 pm in Room 116. Classes demonstrate to the ESL faculty how to activate accounts, add and drop students, post grades (possibly pass/no pass) and help students apply online and register for summer classes. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Until next time,
