News: Don Eckmann Receives Risser Award for Outstanding Support Of Education
For his exceptional work in support of education at Pasadena City College, Don Eckmann has been awarded the Support of Education Risser Award.
“It is heartfelt for me to be given this wonderful award,” Eckmann said. “I pride myself in helping provide a learning environment for our students.”
Students and staff nominate candidates for the Risser Award. The award is given each year to a member of PCC’s educational support staff whose performance shows exceptional dedication to the goals of the college.
Eckmann joined PCC in 1987. He was originally hired as a carpenter and was directly responsible for designing and building structures and classrooms. In 2000, he was promoted to the position of Facilities Services supervisor.
Eckmann received the Risser Award from PCC President Dr. Mark Rocha and Don Anderson, a member of the PCC Foundation and son-in-law of Ray Risser.
Ray Risser, former social sciences instructor and trustee of the college, established the Risser Award for educational support staff at PCC in 1980. A second Risser Award is presented to a member of the faculty at PCC.
