News: Public Relations Wins Gold for Distinguished Alumni Banners
The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) recently awarded Pasadena City College’s Public Relations Office with a gold medallion for its “Distinguished Alumni” banners.
The office was awarded the top prize at the NCMPR District 6 annual conference held last month in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Featuring alumni such as baseball legend Jackie Robinson and musician Eddie Van Halen, the banners can be seen lining the turnaround adjacent to the PCC Industrial Technologies Building. One judge described them as “beyond incredible” and gave full points for all four different criteria.
PCC’s entry in the Banner or Outdoor Media category was judged on having clearly established goals and audience, design, graphics and color, effective written communication, and overall impact.
The office also won a bronze medallion in the Electronic Publications category for Pulse, PCC’s online staff and faculty newsletter. One judge declared the publication to have “great visual content.”
The recent awards cap a stellar year for PCC’s marketing efforts. The Public Relations Office also garnered five awards at the Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO) 2012 Annual Conference held in May at Mission College in Santa Clara, Calif.
