News: PCC Trustee Berlinda Brown Named One of Business Life Magazines Women Achievers
Berlinda Brown, Pasadena Area Community College District Board of Trustees member, was named one of Business Life Magazine’s 2012 Women Achievers. For the past 22 years, the magazine has honored women who have played a prominent role in service, charitable, and civic organizations.
Brown has served on the Board of Trustees, the group that oversees Pasadena City College, for the past three years. One of her primary goals is to increase educational access and the completion rate for African-American and Latino male students.
“In order for any individual to succeed they must set goals, both long- and short-term,” Brown said. “These will serve as a guide through the long journey that will eventually lead to success.”
Brown was elected to the governing board of the PACCD in 2009 to represent Trustee Area 3, which covers Northwest Pasadena.
Before retiring, Brown worked as a health care professional for the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center for more than 30 years. She credits her frontline experience at the medical center in molding her belief in society’s need for a well-educated and career-ready workforce. This is especially true for careers that provide healthcare to working families.
