News: PACCD Official Statement and Last, Best and Final Offer to the PCCFA
To the Tax Paying Public and the Pasadena City College Community:
The District and the PCCFA have been at impasse over the negotiation of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) since December 2012. A mediator appointed by the Public Employment Retirement Board (PERB) has certified the negotiations for Fact Finding. The District's Last, Best and Final Offer is the next step in the process supervised by PERB.
The Board of Trustees and the Superintendent-President wish to express to Mr. Marheine, president of the PCCFA, and the entire PCCFA negotiation team our utmost respect for them and our genuine appreciation for their leadership and for driving a hard bargain that has brought us to this day. The PCCFA are tough but fair negotiators.
In particular, the District and the Superintendent-President are profoundly grateful to each of the nearly 400-fulltime faculty and over 650 adjunct faculty for the work that they do every day in the service of our students. Two of the members of the Board of Trustees are teachers themselves and the Superintendent-President is himself an English teacher who still teaches as an adjunct at PCC. This Board knows first hand the challenges that PCC’s teachers face every day and has compassion and utmost respect for their essential work.
The Board thanks the public and the college community for reading this important material. Please view the entire document by clicking on this link:
