Inducted into the Pasadena City College Sports Hall of Fame in October of last year, Lancers women's basketball great Dionne Pounds continues to show off her playing talents in Europe. A two-time PCC Women's Athlete of the Year in 2003-04 and 2004-05, Pounds recently led Catz Lappeenranta to its third consecutive Finnish League championship.

Pounds didn't stop there as she scored a season-high 36 points v. Germany on June 22 in a European 2015 Championships qualifying contest. (See her scoring show at link below).

Born and raised in Finland and the daughter of former PCC men's basketball star Larry Pounds, Dionne didn't come to the United States until she was 17 as she would attend first Muir High and then PCC. She was the State Player of the Year in 2004-05 and helped the Lancers reach consecutive state championship games (lost both). After her impressive two years for the Lancers, Pounds earned a scholarship to Lamar University and played her final two collegiate seasons there. She returned to Europe and is now a veteran of international basketball at age 30.

In 2011, she was voted Finland's Player of the Year after averaging 24 points a game.

At PCC, Pounds was twice an All-South Coast Conference First Team, All-State First Team, and All-State Tournament selection. She was both the state's top 3-point accuracy shooter and tops in free throw shooting. Pounds' teams went a combined 56-5 and won the 2005 conference title under head coach Joe Peron.
